Guidelines for Authors

The Editorial Process

Overview:

A manuscript submitted to ISHAN LAW JOURNAL undergoes a structured review to ensure quality, originality, and relevance.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. The corresponding author submits the manuscript to the journal, marking the start of the evaluation process.
  2. The editor conducts an initial review to ensure the paper fits the journal’s scope, follows submission guidelines, and passes the similarity check.
  3. Suitable reviewers are identified and invited based on their expertise, experience, and availability.
  4. Reviewers carefully assess the manuscript’s originality, methodology, clarity, and ethical standards, providing detailed feedback and recommendations.
  5. The editor studies all review reports, evaluates differing opinions if any, and forms an overall assessment of the paper.
  6. Authors receive reviewer comments, revise their manuscript accordingly, and resubmit it for further review or final consideration.
  7. Based on the revised version and reviewer feedback, the editor makes the final decision on acceptance or rejection.
  8. Accepted papers enter the production stage for formatting, proofreading, and final publication preparation.
  9. The published article is shared widely, and authors are encouraged to promote their work within the academic and research community.

Processes for Appeals

Overview:

Authors have the right to appeal if they believe the editorial board wrongly rejected their manuscript.

Key Points:

  1. Authors should email the editorial office, explaining the reason for the appeal in detail.
  2. The editorial office will acknowledge the appeal and investigate it in an unbiased manner.
  3. The appeal process takes approximately 4–6 weeks.
  4. During the appeal, the manuscript must not be submitted to other journals.
  5. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
  6. Second appeal shall not be considered.

Note

Ensure all communications regarding appeals are clear and complete, as the decision is final after one appeal.

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism:

All contributions must be original and not submitted to any other journal. Authors are responsible for any legal issues arising from plagiarism. Manuscripts with more than 10% similarity will not be accepted.

Copyright:

The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the Ishan institute of Law. Every article/comments/note etc. received for publication will be edited for general suitability of publication by Editorial Board.

Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their original research manuscripts via submission form to the journal. Manuscripts must comply with the journal’s formatting and ethical guidelines, including adherence to ‘The Bluebook’ citation style.

Preparation of Manuscript

Format of papers Original Articles should include:

1. Title and Author(s):

The title page should begin with a concise title centered at the top. Below the title, list all authors with numbered affiliations, followed by a brief institutional address for each author. Ensure that all these details appear clearly before the main text of the manuscript.. Manuscripts with more than 10% similarity will not be accepted.

2. Abstract:

Submission must include a brief abstract of not more than 250 words providing a summary of the paper.

3. Keywords:

A maximum of 5 Keywords must be provided as a part of the abstract.

4. Introduction:

Introduction should include background of the subject, earlier works carried out, signify the relationship with the proposed work and aims and objectives of this study.

5. Legal Analysis and Arguments:

: Legal analysis involves examining laws and precedents to assess a case, interpreting legal principles, and constructing persuasive arguments to support a position.

6. Findings and discussion:

The observations of the study must illustrate with figures or tables wherever necessary. The research with appropriate statistical analysis described in the methods section should be self- explanatory.

7. Conclusion:

The conclusion summarizes the key findings and their implications, addressing the research questions.

8. References and Citations:

References must be formatted consistently as per the “Bluebook style” 20th edition citation style. Ensure that each reference is complete, including details such as the author, title, publication year, and page numbers (where applicable).

9. Acknowledgements:

All acknowledgments must be typed in one paragraph directly preceding the reference section and may include supporting grants, presentations, and so forth.

10. Covering Letter:

All submissions must be accompanied by a Covering Letter stating the title, author’s full name, designation, institute they belong and postal address and the author’s contact details. Only the covering letter should contain the above-mentioned details and not the manuscript.
